Kori is considered one of the best treks compared to Mardi trek and Annapurna Base Camp. Along your way, you will be getting opportunities to experience other beautiful side trips. Among other side treks Kahphuche glacier lack which is located in Sikles at an altitude of 2546m. It is considered a picturesque glacier lake where the water is crystal clear and you can enjoy boating.

You can have a great view of cattle pasture in the monsoon season such as livestock and flowers. You will be able to see fields covered with different and colorful wildflowers.

Best time for Kori Trek

Trek to Kori village is a wonderful place where you can trek any time of the year. Kori contains various sites according to different seasons. So, if you are planning to trek to Kori village then here is the list of seasons to experience Kori village:

  • March to May: Between these seasons you will be experiencing spring as well as different varieties of wildflowers. You will be walking into the rhododendron forest along with fresh air. March to April, is the best season for trekking in Nepal. Spring is considered the most variable season for trekking because the days and nights are warm.
  • June to August: One of the best seasons to experience wildflowers along with mountains and landscapes. Between June to August, you will be witnessing Summer along with Monsoon. Due to the Monsoon season, you will get a chance to go through fields covered with flowers and a clear blue sky.
  • Monsoon is considered the season for trekking but going through natural trials you will experience natural disasters as well. You must get full information about the place and its routes before you begin your trek.
  • September to November: These seasons are very famous for tourists in Nepal and trekking. You will notice a large number of tourists between these seasons. As these months fall under Autumn the temperature is cool.

Due to snowfall, there may be some circumstances but if you want to experience snowfall then this is the best time to visit Nepal, Kori.

Difficulty Level in Kori Trek

Kori trek is considered an easy-moderate trek. However, it is not a difficult trek as it can be considered a jungle hike because the trials to Kori will be going through jungles. You can experience other short treks. The only difficulty that you will be facing is when you camp because you will have to spend your night in the middle of the night.

Trails and Duration of Kori Trek

It will take 8 to 10 days to complete your journey where you will be walking for 5 to 6 hours per day which will be 8 to 10kms. You will be going through Sikles where the trek is moderate. You will be experiencing uphill and downhill along with your trials. The routes that you will be taking will be all-natural between the woods.

How to reach Sikles?

Before heading to Sikles you will have to go to Amar Singh Chock which is located in Pokhara. You should reach Pokhara as soon as possible. Then you will be going to Kahu Khola through which you can get a vehicle that goes to Sikles.

How to reach Kapuche Glacier Lake?

On the way to Kapuche, you will experience many beautiful villages as well as landscapes. The main getaway to Kapuche Lake is through Sikles village. You will have to start your hike from Sikles to Kahphuche Lake. Pokhara to Sikles, Sikles to Kapuche.

Views from Kori Village

Once you reach the peak of Kori Village it will take your breath away. You will get beautiful of the 3 highest peaks of Nepal, Machhapuchhre Himal which is known as Fishtail Mountain, Annapurna II range/mountain, and Lamjung Mountain with many other snowcapped mountains. Along with the mountains, you will be getting a view of Gurung traditions, culture, and their village. You will be spending your time in a village which is covered with typical Nepalese style. 

Accommodation during Kori Trek

As mentioned you will be experiencing two treks at once: Sikes trek and Kori Trek. You will have great accommodation up to Sikles villages such as guest houses, Lodges, and tea houses. If you want to know more about Gurungs and their culture, then you can spend your time at Gurung guest houses but once you cross Sikles you will be camping along your way.

Food and Water during Kori Trek

On your trek to Kori Village, you will experience various Nepali as well as international cuisines. As you will be starting your journey from Kathmandu and Pokhara you will get every facility that you want. You will get any food as well as water at a reasonable price.

By the time you leave Pokhara and start your trek, you will get to buy fewer products because you will be entering rural areas so you should get yourself the necessary food items from Pokhara. As Kori is a new trekking spot the accommodation is very limited and for a few days of the trek, you will be staying in a tent so no shops or tea houses are available after Sickles Village.

Permits needed for Kori Trek

If you are all ready for the Kori trek you will require some permits to visit Kori Village such as:

  • For foreigners, the ACAP try permission charge is 3,000 NPR (about USD 30).
  • For SAARC nationals, the ACAP entrance permit charge is 200 NPR.
  • Permit for TIMS: 1,000 NPR (about $10 USD)

Itinerary for Kori Trek

Day 1: Arrive in Nepal, Kathmandu where you will be picked up from the hotel.

On this day you will be landed in Nepal where your hotel will send you a jeep or a cab to pick you up. On this day you will be welcome and will be taken to your rook where you will be fresh and unpack your bags.

Day 2: Visit different places in Kathmandu Valley such as UNESCO World sites

Once you have your breakfast you will be going outside to explore Kathmandu where you will get to know religious and historical things. You will be visiting different sites such as Durbar squares, Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath, and other UNESCO world sites.

Day 3: Drive or Flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara

On this day you will leave for Pokhara by flight or by road. You can choose a jeep, bus or car. If you choose the flight you will reach Pokhara within 30 to 35 minutes where you can enjoy mountain views. If you wish to go by road, then you can sightsee various landscapes on your way. You will be experiencing typical Nepali cuisines.

The road distance from Kathmandu to Pokhara is 201 km which will take 5 to 6 hours. Once you reach Pokhara you will spend your day in Pokhara where you can visit different places such as Phewa Lake, Peace Pagoda, and Bat Cave. You can get involved in different adventurous activities such as paragliding, zip-line, bungee, and much more.

Day 4: From Pokhara, you will drive to Sikles where you will be exploring the village and its Gurung culture and tradition.

On this day you will have your breakfast the head towards Sikles. You will start your trekking from Sikles where you will explore the cultures and traditions of Gurungs. Sikles is considered one of the largest models of trekking along with achieving its beauty.

The accommodation in Sikles is nice where you can spend your night in teahouses and hotels along with healthy Nepalese cuisines. 

Day 5: Hike towards Hugu Goth  

From Sikles you will have your breakfast and move towards Hugu Goth. You will begin you to your destination. You will be able to rest at Hugu Goth from which you can experience many short treks. You will be spending your night in Hugu Goth.

Day 6: Hike Kapuche Glacier Lake and return to Hugu Goth

On this day you will experience one of the best glacier lakes where you will have breakfast and start your hike. You will be approaching Kapuche Glacier Lake. Once you reach there you will witness the beautiful view of Kapuche Glacier Lake where you can enjoy the scenery and boating.

Kapuche is located at an altitude of 2546m which lies within Sikles village. Kapuche is one of the lowest-altitude glacier lakes among other glacier lakes. 

Day 7: Trekking toward North

You will be going towards Nohtha and spending your Night

Day 8: Trekking to Kori Village/Hill

Moving from Nohtha you will be going towards Kori Village which is your dentition. On this day you will be experiencing the beauty of Kori along with different flowers, mountains, animals, etc. You will be seeing different views according to the season. So, you will be spending the night in Kori Village.

Day 9: Trekking to Thul lake

On this day you will be moving towards Thul Lake from Kori village. Thul Lake is one of your first destinations after returning from Kori Village.

Day 10: Trekking to Karpu Hill

From Thul Lake, you will be trekking down to Karpu Hill from where you can enjoy the views of the mountains.

Day 11: Trekking to Tangting

Last day of your trekking you will be moving towards Tangting and will spend your night.

Day 12: Back to Pokhara. Site visiting

You can enjoy many adventurous activities in Pokhara. You can enjoy your day by boating on Phewa Lake and then enjoy the famous food available in Pokhara.

Day 13: Flight or Drive to Kathmandu        

On this day you will be going back to Kathmandu which will be your last night in Nepal. You can enjoy the rest of your time by visiting different places in Kathmandu.

Day 14: Last day in Nepal. Going back

The last day of your journey is when you will be flying back home. You will go back to your country along with many memories that you have achieved in Nepal.

Kori Trek Cost

The price for going on a trek to Kori Village will be around $490 to $650 per person.

If you compare the price of other trekking spots in Nepal Kori trek is cheaper than those as it is a new trekking destination. Along with that, you can also experience different short hikes and lakes.

The additional costs such as boating and horse riding are not included in the package. So, if you want to try extra activities then you can pay for yourself.

Packing list for your Kori Trek

Are you planning a trek to Kori? Then there are important things that you must carry along with you.

  • Strong and reliable trekking shoes because you will be walking for 5 to 6 hours a day. So, you must get yourself a good quality trekking shoe.
  • You will be going to a cold place so you will require windproof socks and gloves as it is important to keep your hands and feet warm.
  • Get yourself a large and strong rucksack where you can keep your necessary items. If you are taking a potter with you then you can take 2 rucksacks.
  • Carry clothes with full sleeves because you must avoid the wind.
  • You will have to carry and wear wind/waterproof jackets and trousers which will keep you warm and protect you from cold and sickness.
  • Water bottle at least 1lt because you will have to hydrate yourself as you will be walking for 5 to 6 hours a day. So it is necessary to consume an excessive amount of water. 
  • Trekking stick or hiking poles if necessary.
  • Medical kit or emergency medical kit
